Microsoft Business Portal 6.0 Released for Microsoft Dynamics

Business Portal 6.0 for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 has been released by Microsoft Corp. Currently, Business Portal 6 supports SharePoint Server 2010 and SharePoint Foundation 2010. SharePoint 2013 is not supported as of now. However, it will be supported in the Business Portal 6.1 update, which will be out later.

Microsoft Business Portal

If you’re new to Microsoft Dynamics, Business Portal is a web-based application which provides access to data within Microsoft Dynamics GP to users who do not actually have access to the Microsoft Dynamics GP application. By providing employees with immediate access to updated information and business applications you can boost the productivity within your company. This is also an excellent solution to help reduce the number of custom report requests, allowing your accounting, IT and support departments to focus on more important tasks.

From your businesses intranet, Business Portal could be used to access an employees handbook or other data used by your company, which is not stored in the accounting system. This allows you to make information such as order updates, transaction documents, inventory data and other pieces of vital business information available to not only your employees but also you business partners, vendors and customers, without losing control of the sensitive data.

Microsoft Business Portal 6.0

Business Portal is built on top of other Microsoft applications, starting with Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2. Internet Information Services (IIS) hosts virtual servers, each of which can contain a separate web-based application.

Business Portal 6.0 is currently supported only on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64 SP2 or later and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or later and Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 8, 9 and 10.

SharePoint 2010 is currently not supported on Microsoft Windows Server 2012. According to Microsoft, Windows Server 2012 support will be including with the release of Service Pack 2 for SharePoint 2010. Because of this, Business Portal 6.0 is currently not supported on Windows Server 2012.
